During certain frontal crashes, the supplemental inflatable restraint system (SIR) supplements the restraint of the driver and the passenger seat belts by deploying an air bag from the driver inflator module. The driver inflator module mounts to the center of the steering wheel. The passenger inflator module mounts on the right side of the instrument panel. The inflator module houses the air bag and the inflator. Handle the module with care in order to prevent accidental deployment.
