Was the Functional Test performed?

  1. Set the mode to VENT.
  2. Set the temperature control to full COLD.
  3. Set the blower speed to OFF.
  4. There should be no airflow at the following outlets:
  5. • The vent
    • The heater
    • The defroster
    • The side window defroster

Is the airflow correct?

  1. Set the blower speed to HI.
  2. Inspect for airflow at the following outlets:
  3. • The vent
    • The heater
    • The defroster
    • The side window defroster

Does air flow through the vent outlets at ambient temperature and no air flow through the heater, defroster and side window defroster outlets?

  1. Set the mode to HEAT.
  2. Set the temperature control to full HOT.
  3. Inspect for airflow at the following outlets:
  4. • The vent
    • The heater
    • The defroster
    • The side window defroster
  5. Hot air should flow through the heater outlet with the blower at HI speed, while a minimum of hot air should flow through the defroster and the side window defroster outlets. Also, no airflow should exist at the vent outlets.

Is the airflow correct?

  1. Set the mode to DEFROST.
  2. Inspect for airflow at the following outlets:
  3. • The vent
    • The heater
    • The defroster
    • The side window defroster
  4. Hot air should flow through the heater outlet with the blower at HI speed, while a minimum of hot air should flow through the defroster and the side window defroster outlets. Also, no airflow should exist at the vent outlets.

Is the airflow correct?

  1. Disconnect the affected control cable(s) at the door(s)
  2. Inspect the door travel and effort.

Are the door travel and effort correct?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 9

Test the control cable(s) travel by moving the corresponding control at the heater control unit.

Is the control cable travel correct?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 11

Repair the affected control cable(s) as necessary. Refer to the following:

    • Temperature Control Cable Replacement
    • Vent Control Cables Replacement

Is the action complete?

Repair the affected door at the heater case as necessary.

Is the action complete?

Reinstall the control cable(s).

Is the action complete?

Inspect the control cable(s) attachment at the heater control unit. Repair any control cable attachment as necessary.

Is the action complete?
