Did you perform Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Disconnect the fuel level sensor connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter from connector cavity 1 to chassis ground.
  3. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

3.0 ohms

Go to Step 3

Repair the open in the BLK wire between the fuel level sensor and G400. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a J 36169-A fused jumper from the fuel level sensor connector cavity 2 to chassis ground.

Does the fuel gauge indicate F?

Go to Step 5

Replace the fuel level sensor.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the instrument panel cluster assembly connector C2.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter from connector C2 cavity 9 to chassis ground.
  3. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

3.0 ohms

Repair the open in the YEL/RED wire between the fuel gauge and the fuel level sensor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the instrument panel cluster for cracks and bad connections.

Do any cracks or bad connections exist?

Go to Step 9

Repair the cracks or bad connections in the instrument panel cluster.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the fuel gauge. Refer to Fuel Gage Replacement .
