Removal Procedure

Important: When replacing a speedometer or an odometer assembly, the law requires the odometer reading of the replacement unit to be set to register the same mileage as the previous odometer. If the same mileage cannot be set, then the law requires that the following actions take place:

       • Set the replacement odometer to zero.
       • Install a label on the driver's side door frame showing the following information:
       • The previous odometer reading
       • The date of replacement

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
