Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the hood.
- Remove the 2 retaining
bolts and the hood latch (3) from the front upper panel (1).
- Remove the hood latch release cable (2) from the hood latch (3).
- Remove the hood latch (3) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the hood latch
release cable (2) to the hood latch (3).
- Install the hood latch (3) to the vehicle. Secure the latch
with the 2 retaining bolts. Do not fully tighten the bolts.
- Adjust the hood latch in order to ensure that the striker shaft
lines up with the center groove of the hood latch (3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Adjust the hood
latch in order to ensure that the hood is flush with the front fender. Refer
to
Body Front End Adjustment Specifications
.
Tighten
Tighten the hood latch retaining bolts to 7 N·m (5 lb ft).
- Lower the hood.
