Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the hood.
  2. Rotate the prop rod.
  3. Remove the prop rod from the vehicle.
  4. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.

  5. Object Number: 351838  Size: SH
  6. Remove the 2 bolts and the hood latch (3) from the body.

  7. Object Number: 351840  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the horn electrical connectors (1).
  9. Remove the mounting bolt and the horn from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the 6  bolts along the top of the front upper panel.
  11. Remove the 4 bolts and the 2 screws from the front of the front upper panel.
  12. Remove the upper panel from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the front upper panel to the vehicle. Secure the panel with the following fasteners:
  2. • The 6 bolts along the top of the panel
    • The 4 bolts along the front of the panel
    • The 2 screws along the front of the panel

    Tighten
    Tighten the front upper panel bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the horn (2) to the vehicle. Secure the horn with the mounting bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the horn mounting bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the horn electrical connectors (1).

  6. Object Number: 351838  Size: SH
  7. Connect the hood latch (3) to the body. Secure the latch with the 2 bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the hood latch retaining bolts to 7 N·m (5 lb ft).

  9. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  10. Install the prop rod to the vehicle.
