Removal Procedure
- Open the rear door.
- Remove the 14 plastic interior trim panel retaining
clips which secure the trim panel.
- Remove the rear door interior trim panel (1).
- Pull the water deflector away from the rear door.
- Disconnect the 2 license plate lamp electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 license plate mounting nuts.
- Pull the license plate lamp cover (1) away from the rear
door (2).
- Remove the 2 grommets from the rear door.
- Pull the license plate wiring through the holes.
- Remove the license plate lamp cover (1) from the rear door (2).
- Remove the rear door handle rod from the handle.
- Remove the 2 rear door handle mounting nuts.
- Remove the rear door handle (1) from the rear door (2).
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rear
door handle (1). Secure the rear door handle (1) with the 2
mounting nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the rear door handle mounting nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the rear door handle rod to the handle.
- Feed the license plate lamp wiring through the 2 holes in the
rear door.
- Install the 2 grommets into position.
- Install the license plate lamp cover (1)
to the rear door. Secure the lamp cover with 2 mounting nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the license plate lamp cover mounting nuts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Connect the 2 license plate lamp electrical connectors.
- Inspect the water deflector for tears and holes.
- Repair the water deflector, as needed, using waterproof tape on
either side of the deflector.
- Apply adhesive to the back of the water deflector.
- Install the water deflector to the rear door.
- Install the rear door interior trim panel (1)
to the rear door (2). Secure the trim panel (1) with the 14
retaining clips.
- Close the rear door.
