J 21426 Vacuum Modulator Wrench

  1. Install the modulator valve sleeve (114) small end first. The tab must engage the slot in the modulator valve bore.
  2. Install the modulator valve (115).
  3. Install the modulator valve plunger (116).
  4. Install a new seal (117) onto the vacuum modulator (118).

  5. Object Number: 181667  Size: SH

    Notice: Use of another tool to remove the vacuum modulator may result in internal damage to the modulator.

  6. Install the vacuum modulator (118) into the transmission case using J 21426 .
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the vacuum modulator (118) to 52 N·m (38 lb ft).

    • J 36850 Transjel® Transmission Assembly Lubricant
    • J 23100 Vacuum Modulator Wrench

  1. Apply J 36850 to the vacuum modulator O-ring (2).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Use the J 23100 in order to install the vacuum modulator plunger (3) into the transmission.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the vacuum modulator (1) to 52 N·m (38 lb ft).

  5. Install the vacuum hose and pipe (1) to the vacuum modulator (2).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
