The sliding window panel is designed for controlled water entry at the seal. A properly adjusted window panel results in a snug fit between the weatherstrip and the roof. Insert a piece of paper between the roof and the weatherstrip in order to check the window fit. The piece of paper should have some resistance when pulled out of a closed window. A minimal gap is essential in order to assure that the water to the sunroof drain hoses is not excessive. Objectionable wind noise could result id gap clearances are exceeded. Adjust the height and the centering of the window in order to adjust the sunroof window to roof. Refer to Window Height Vertical Adjustment.
A drain trough in the sunroof module provides adequate drainage. The drain trough encircles the sliding window panel and leads to drain hoses, located in each corner of the housing. A drain channel spans the rear of the sunroof module and directs water into the trough. The front drain hoses route down the windshield pillars and out the center of each pillar between the upper and the lower door hinges. The rear drain hoses route down the C-pillars.
If a wet headlining or other water leak complaints are encountered prior to performing any adjustments, perform the following steps:
In order to further check for disconnected drain hoses without removing the headliner, remove the sunroof control switch and the sunroof opening trim ring around the sunroof opening and the lower headliner as required.
