Exhaust Muffler Replacement Front

1. Disconnect the post converter heated oxygen sensor electrical connection, if equipped.
2. Remove the nuts that secure the front muffler pipe to the main catalytic converter flange.
3. Remove the gasket.
4. Remove the rubber from the hanger welded to the front muffler pipe.



5. Remove the nuts that secure the front muffler pipe flange to the rear muffler pipe flange.
6. Remove the gasket.
7. Remove the front muffler pipe.
8. Inspect the exhaust pipe and the front muffler box for holes, damage, open seams, or other deterioration that could permit exhaust fumes to seep into the passenger compartment or the trunk.

1. Install the front muffler pipe.
2. Install the gasket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the nuts securing the front muffler pipe flange to the rear muffler pipe flange.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).




4. Install the rubber to the hanger welded to the front muffler pipe.
5. Install the gasket.
6. Install the nuts securing the front muffler pipe to the main catalytic converter flange.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

7. Connect the post converter heated oxygen sensor electrical connection, if equipped.
8. Inspect the exhaust pipe and front muffler box for holes, damage, open seams, or other deterioration that could permit exhaust fumes to seep into the passenger compartment or the trunk.

Exhaust Muffler Replacement Rear

1. Remove the nuts that secure the rear muffler pipe flange to the front muffler pipe flange.
2. Remove the gasket.



3. Loosen the bolt that secures the trim ring to the rear muffler pipe.
4. Remove the trim ring.



5. Detach the rear muffler from the rubber hangers.
6. Remove the rear exhaust muffler assembly.
7. Inspect the exhaust pipe and the rear muffler box for holes, damage, open seams, or other deterioration that could permit exhaust fumes to seep into the passenger compartment or the trunk.

1. Install the rear exhaust muffler assembly.
2. Attach the rear muffler to the rubber hanger.



3. Install the trim ring.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

4. Install the bolt securing the trim ring to the rear muffler pipe.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).




5. Install the gasket.
6. Install the nuts securing the rear muffler pipe flange to the front muffler pipe flange.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

7. Inspect the exhaust pipe and rear muffler box for the following in order to prevent exhaust fumes to seep into the passenger compartment or the trunk:

•

Holes

•

Damage

•	Open seams

•	Other deterioration
