Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) energizes the park lamps by applying voltage to the park lamp control circuit. When the park lamp control circuit is energized the park lamps are illuminated.

Conditions for Running the DTC

B2585 01

Headlamp switch in OFF position.

B2585 02 or B2585 04

Park lamps are illuminated.

B3867 01

B3867 02 or B3867 04

Headlamp switch in park or low beam position.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B2585 01 or B3867 01

The BCM detects a short to voltage on the control circuit.

B2585 02 or B3867 02

The BCM detects a short to ground on the control circuit.

B2585 04 or B3867 04

The BCM detects an open control circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The park lamps are inoperative.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The condition for setting the DTC is not longer present.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, perform the appropriate Tail Lamp Command test. The appropriate park lamp should be ON/OFF

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate park lamp.
2. Test for less than 5 Ω between the appropriate park lamp ground circuit harness connector listed below and ground.

•	E4N Park/Turn Signal Lamp - Left ground circuit harness connector terminal 2

•	E4P Park/Turn Signal Lamp - Right ground circuit harness connector terminal 2

•	E5F Tail Lamp - Right ground circuit harness connector terminal 2

•	E5E Tail Lamp - Left ground circuit harness connector terminal 2

⇒	If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Connect a test lamp between the appropriate park lamp control circuit harness connector listed below and ground.

•	E4N Park/Turn Signal Lamp - Left control circuit harness connector terminal 3

•	E4P Park/Turn Signal Lamp - Right control circuit harness connector terminal 3

•	E5F Tail Lamp - Right control circuit harness connector terminal 1

•	E5E Tail Lamp - Left control circuit harness connector terminal 1

4. Command the appropriate Tail Lamp Command test with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.

⇒	If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module (BCM).

⇒	If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module (BCM).

5. If all the circuits test normal, replace the appropriate park lamp.
