J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting in General Information.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  3. Object Number: 1005116  Size: SH
  4. Remove the compressor hose block fitting washer and bolt (1).
  5. Remove the compressor sealing washers.
  6. Remove the refrigerant hoses from the compressor.
  7. Discard the compressor sealing washers.

  8. Object Number: 1005121  Size: SH
  9. Remove the compressor discharge hose bolt (3) from the condenser.
  10. Disconnect the compressor discharge hose from the condenser.
  11. Discard the O-ring seal.
  12. Remove the compressor suction hose fitting bolt (2).
  13. Disconnect the compressor suction hose from the evaporator outlet hose.
  14. Discard the O-ring seal.
  15. Remove the compressor hose assembly bracket nut (1) from the brackets.

  17. Remove the compressor hose assembly bracket nuts (1) from the compressor hose assembly bracket.
  18. Remove the compressor hose assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the compressor hose assembly.
  2. Install the compressor hose assembly to the brackets on the frame rail.

  3. Object Number: 1284883  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the nuts(1) to the brackets.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  6. Install the bracket nuts (1) and bracket clamps.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  8. Install the new O-ring seals. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  9. Connect the compressor hose to the condenser.
  10. Install the compressor discharge hose bolt (3).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  12. Connect the compressor suction hose to the evaporator outlet hose.
  13. Install the compressor suction hose bolt (2).
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  15. Install the new sealing washers onto the pilots of the fittings. Ensure that the washers bottom against the surface of the fittings. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  16. Object Number: 1005116  Size: SH
  17. Install the compressor hose assembly to the compressor.
  18. Install the compressor hose assembly bolt (1) to the compressor.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  20. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  21. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled components using the J 39400-A .
  22. Lower the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting in General Information.
