Circuit/System Description

Voltage is available at the heated mirror switch through the ignition circuit with the ignition switch in the ON position. When the heated mirror switch is closed, voltage is available at the outside mirror switch indicator and becomes illuminated. The indicator remains illuminated until the switch is open or the ignition is OFF.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, command the heated outside rearview mirrors ON and OFF by using the heated mirror switch. The heated mirror switch indicator should illuminate ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the heated mirror switch.
  2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the heated mirror switch ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  5. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the heated mirror switch.

Component Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the heated mirror switch
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit terminal 2 and the ignition circuit terminal 1 with the switch in the open position.
  3. If not the specified value, replace the heated mirror switch.
  4. Test for less than 5 ohms of resistance between the control circuit terminal 2 and the ignition circuit terminal 1 with the switch in the closed position.
  5. If greater than the specified range, replace heated mirror switch.
