Poor Defrosting

Problem

Action

The valves which control airflow are not functioning correctly.

Determine and correct the cause of the malfunction.

The blower motor is not working.

Determine and correct the cause of the malfunction. Refer to Blower Motor Inoperative at Any Speed .

There is blockage in the defroster outlets.

Remove the blockage.

A restricted heater core and/or hoses.

Flush the cooling system. Refer to Flushing in Engine Cooling.

A faulty thermostat and/or radiator cap.

Determine and correct the cause of the malfunction. Refer to Thermostat Diagnosis in Engine Cooling.

There is blockage in front of the air conditioning filter.

Clean the air conditioning filter. Refer to Passenger Compartment Air Filter Replacement .

There is blockage in path of door.

Remove the blockage.

No Heat (Blower Motor Working)

Problem

Action

There is low engine coolant level.

Check the engine coolant level. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .

A faulty thermostat and/or radiator cap.

Determine and correct the cause of the malfunction. Refer to Thermostat Replacement (7.2L) in Engine Cooling.

A Restricted heater core and/or hoses.

Flush the cooling system. Refer to Flushing in Engine Cooling.

A faulty Temperature actuator.

Check the actuator function and replace as necessary. Refer to Temperature Actuator Replacement .

The pivot shaft on the doors is not seated correctly.

Seat the pivot shaft on the door(s) correctly.

There is a blockage in front of the air conditioning filter.

Clean the air conditioning filter. Refer to Passenger Compartment Air Filter Replacement .

There is blockage in the path of the door.

Remove the blockage.

Heater Gurgling Sound

Problem

Action

There is low engine coolant.

Check the engine coolant level. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System

A restricted heater core and/or hoses.

Flush the cooling system. Refer to Flushing in Engine Cooling.

Poor Ventilation

Problem

Action

A blockage in the heater vent module.

Remove the blockage in the heater vent module.

A blockage in the inlet actuator air duct.

Remove the blockage in the inlet actuator air duct.

A binding or sticking of the inlet actuator air door.

Repair and replace as necessary.

The inlet actuator air door is not operating.

Repair and replace the door as necessary.

A faulty inlet actuator.

Replace the air inlet actuator. Refer to Air Inlet Actuator Replacement .

The pivot shaft on the door is not seated correctly.

Seat the pivot shaft on the door(s).
