Installation Procedure

  1. Coat the new O-ring seal. Use 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  2. Object Number: 229736 Size: SH

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the new O-ring seal and the expansion valve to the evaporator core.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the expansion valve fitting to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Coat the new O-ring seal. Use 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  6. Install the new o-ring seal and the high pressure line elbow to the expansion valve.
  7. Tighten
Tighten the high pressure line elbow fitting to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  8. Coat the new O-ring seal. Use 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  9. Install the new O-ring and expansion valve to the low pressure hose fitting.
  10. Tighten
Tighten the expansion valve low pressure fitting to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  11. Install the screw and the clamp to the capillary tube bulb and low pressure line.
  12. Install the insulation pad over the capillary tube bulb and clamp.
