Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Remove both of the heater cores. Refer to Heater Core Replacement .
  4. Remove the Temperature Sensor screw.
  5. Disconnect the Temperature Sensor electrical connector.
  6. Remove the Temperature Sensor.
  7. Remove the air conditioning evaporator. Refer to Evaporator Core Replacement .
  8. Remove the relay panel mounting screws and move the four relay panel out of the way.
  9. Disconnect the blower motor resistor electrical connector.
  10. Remove the following electrical connectors.
  11. • The blower motor electrical connector
    • The HVAC air actuator electrical connector
    • The HVAC mode door actuator electrical connector
    • The flasher module electrical connector
  12. Remove the passenger compartment air filter.
  13. Remove the right heater vent module nuts.

  15. Remove the right heater vent module from the front cowl.
  16. Remove the relay center number 2 mounting bracket screws and move the relay center out of the way.
  17. Remove the left side floor duct support screw from the left side of the heater vent module.
  18. Disconnect the HVAC air temperature actuator connector.
  19. Disconnect the instrument panel harness retainer from the bottom of the left heater vent module.
  20. Remove the left heater module nuts, screws, and washers.

  22. Remove the left heater vent module.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 229929  Size: SH
  1. Install the left heater vent module.
  2. Install the left heater module nuts, screws, and washers.
  3. Connect the instrument panel harness retainer to the bottom of the left heater vent module.
  4. Connect the HVAC air temperature actuator connector.
  5. Install the left side floor duct support screw to the left side of the heater vent module.
  6. Install the relay center number 2 mounting bracket screws.

  8. Install the right heater vent module to the front cowl.
  9. Install the right heater vent module nuts.
  10. Install the passenger compartment air filter.
  11. Connect the following electrical connectors.
  12. • The blower motor electrical connector
    • The HVAC air actuator electrical connector
    • The HVAC mode door actuator electrical connector
    • The flasher module electrical connector
  13. Install the blower motor resistor electrical connector.
  14. Position the four relay panel and install the relay panel mounting screws.
  15. Install the air conditioning evaporator. Refer to Evaporator Core Replacement .
  16. Install the Temperature Sensor.
  17. Connect the Temperature Sensor electrical connector.
  18. Install the Temperature Sensor screw.
  19. Install both of the heater cores. Refer to Heater Core Replacement .
  20. Install the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  21. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
