The following conditions may cause the engine to overheat:

    • The radiator core is dirty.
    • The radiator core is obstructed.
    • The radiator core is leaking.

Use any of the following equipment in order to clean the outside of the radiator:

    • A soft bristle brush and clean hot water
    • A mild detergent solution such as car wash or dishwashing liquid
    • A common water hose

Cleaning Procedure

  1. Pressure flush using clean, hot water and a mild car wash or a dishwashing liquid in order to clean the inside of the core tubes.

  3. Use the following steps in order to test the radiator for restrictions:
  4. 2.1. Warm the engine.
    2.2. Turn off the engine.
    2.3. Feel the radiator.
  5. Verify that the following conditions exist:
  6. • The radiator is hot along the top side.
    • The radiator is warm along the bottom side.
    • There is an even temperature rise from top to bottom.
    • Cold spots in the radiator indicate clogged sections.
