The following conditions may cause the engine to overheat:
• | The radiator core is dirty. |
• | The radiator core is obstructed. |
• | The radiator core is leaking. |
Use any of the following equipment in order to clean the outside of
the radiator:
• | A soft bristle brush and clean hot water |
• | A mild detergent solution such as car wash or dishwashing liquid |
Cleaning Procedure
- Pressure flush using clean, hot water and a mild car wash or a
dishwashing liquid in order to clean the inside of the core tubes.
- Use the following steps
in order to test the radiator for restrictions:
2.2. | Turn off the engine. |
- Verify that the following conditions exist:
• | The radiator is hot along the top side. |
• | The radiator is warm along the bottom side. |
• | There is an even temperature rise from top to bottom. |
• | Cold spots in the radiator indicate clogged sections. |
