Removal Procedure
Important: When servicing the transfer case, use only hand tools when removing
the fill or drain plugs.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the transfer case from the vehicle. Refer to .
.
Important: If the drain or fill plugs are damaged and need to be replaced, use
only replacement plugs that are made from aluminum.
- Remove the transfer case fill plug.
Important: When draining the transfer case oil, always the proper container for
draining.
- Remove the transfer case drain plug.
Installation Procedure
- In stall
the transfer case drain plug.
Tighten
Tighten the transfer case drain plug to 20 N·m (15 lb ft)
- Fill the transfer case with the proper amount of approved fluid.

- Install
the transfer case fill plug.
Tighten
Tighten the oil fill plug to 20 N·m (15 lb ft)
- Install the transfer case shield to the vehicle. Refer to .
