Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 651569  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to in General Information.
  2. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  3. Remove the transfer case from the adapter. Refer to .
  4. Use a suitable transmission jack stand to support the transmission.

  5. Object Number: 651570  Size: SH
  6. Remove the mounting bolts from the adapter to the transmission.
  7. Important: Use caution when removing the gasket from the transfer case. The transfer case is made out of Magesium and will damaged easily.

  8. Remove the gasket from the adapter.
  9. Remove the adapter from the transmission.
  10. Remove the O-ring from the adapter.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new O-ring to the adapter.
  2. Install the adapter to the transmission.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the adapter mounting bolts to the transmission.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the adapter mounting bolts to 55 N·m (39 lb ft).

  6. Install the transmission mount on the adapter.
  7. Important: Do not reuse the old gasket if it is damaged, replaced it. Do not use any type of sealer in place of the gasket.

  8. Install a new gasket on the adapter.
  9. Install the transfer case to the adapter. Refer to .
  10. Remove the safety stands.
  11. Lower the vehicle. Refer to in General Information.
