  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the engine data list.

Do any of the gauges approximately agree with the scan tool engine data list?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Test the ignition 1 voltage circuit of the instrument cluster for an open, a high resistance, or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 7

Test the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the instrument cluster for an open, a high resistance, or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 5

Test the ground circuit of the instrument cluster for an open, or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
