Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Remove the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in engine electrical.
  2. Note the position of the hoses for installation.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector and hoses from the purge valve.
  4. Release the lock tab on the purge valve mounting bracket.
  5. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 73898  Size: SH
  1. Bend tab on mounting bracket to retain the purge valve.
  2. Install the purge valve to the mounting bracket.
  3. Once installed pull on the solenoid to ensure that the part will be held in place.

  4. Connect the electrical connector and hoses to the purge valve.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in engine electrical.
