- The SIR coil assembly
will become uncentered if the following items occur:
| • | The steering column is separated from the steering gear and rotates. |
| • | The centering spring is pushed down and the hub rotates while
the coil is removed from the steering column. |
- After removal of the coil assembly from the steering column, hold
the coil with the bottom facing upward.
- While holding the coil assembly, depress the spring lock. Rotate
the hub counterclockwise until the hub stops.
- Ensure the coil ribbon (1) is wound against the center
hub.
- Rotate the coil hub clockwise approximately 2½
turns.
- Release the spring lock between the locking tabs.
