Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

1. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
2. Use a DMM in order to backprobe the panel dimmer switch and measure the voltage between terminal B and ground.
3. Adjust the panel dimmer switch between full dim and full intensity.

Is the voltage equal to the specified value?

4 V, B +

Go to Step 2

1. Disconnect the lamp dimmer module connector.
2. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between terminal B of the panel dimmer switch and terminal B of the lamp dimmer module connector.

Is the value within the specified range?

0-2ohms

Go to Step 4

Replace the panel dimmer switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Lamp Dimmer Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the lamp dimmer module. Refer to Instrument Panel Lamp Dimmer Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Repair the open in CKT 44 between the panel dimmer switch and the lamp dimmer module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
