Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle
Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors at the following components:
• | Power steering pressure switch |
- Remove the knock sensor heat shield.
- Remove the engine-to-transmission brace. Refer to
Transmission Brace Replacement
.
- Remove the air deflector.
- Remove the right splash shield.
- Place a jackstand under the right side of the frame.
- Remove the right transmission mount through bolt. Refer to
Transmission Mount Replacement
.
- Loosen the frame bolts on the left side.
- Remove the frame bolts on the right side.
- Lower the frame.
- Remove the case extension bolts.
- Remove the case extension housing.
- Inspect the bushing and the seal for cuts or nicks. Replace the
bushing and the seal if damaged.
Installation Procedure
- Install the case extension housing.
- Install the case extension bolts.
- Raise the frame.
- Install the frame bolts on the right side.
- Install the frame bolts on the left side.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the right transmission mount through bolt.

- Install the right splash shield.
- Install the air deflector.
- Install the engine-to-transmission brace. Refer to
Transmission Brace Replacement
.
- Install the knock sensor heat shield.
- Connect the electrical connectors at the following components:
• | Power steering pressure switch |
- Remove the jackstand.
- Lower the vehicle.
