Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .

  2. Object Number: 18590  Size: SH
  3. Remove the Throttle Body Assembly. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 188930  Size: SH
  5. Remove the TP sensor electrical connector from the TP sensor.

  6. Object Number: 18398  Size: SH
  7. Remove the TP sensor mounting bolts (3) from the TP sensor.
  8. Remove the TP sensor (2) from the throttle body.
  9. Discard the O-ring.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 18398  Size: SH
  1. Install the new O-ring on to the TP sensor.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the TP sensor (2) on to the throttle body.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the TP sensor screws to 2.3  N·m (20 lb in).

  5. Install the TP sensor electrical connector to the TP sensor.

  6. Object Number: 18590  Size: SH
  7. Install the Throttle Body Assembly. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement .
  8. Install the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  9. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  10. Important: Ensure nothing is touching or obstructing the accelerator or brake pedals during the following TP Sensor Learn Procedure.

  11. Ensure throttle blade is at rest.
  12. Turn the key ON.
  13. Wait 30 seconds.
  14. Turn the key to LOCK.
  15. Wait 30 seconds.
  16. The TP Sensor Learn Procedure is now complete.
