The Pass-Key®II decoder module controls the Starter Enable Relay. The PCM and Pass-Key®II decoder module are connected by the starter disable circuit. The PCM will disable the starter relay after the engine has been running for several seconds. The starter enable relay is disabled when the PCM grounds the starter disable circuit to the Pass-Key®II decoder module. This is used to prevent starter and flywheel damage. Perform all Engine Controls, Pass-Key®II and Cranking System diagnostics before attempting to diagnose the starter disable circuit.
