Transmission Mount Replacement Left

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 98833  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolt attaching the mount to the frame.
  4. Remove the transmission to engine brace.

  5. Object Number: 98418  Size: SH
  6. Remove the bolts attaching the mount to the transmission.
  7. Remove the front transmission mount and the oil cooler bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 98418  Size: SH
  1. Install the front transmission mount and the oil cooler bracket to the transmission.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).

  3. Install the through bolt attaching the mount to the frame.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).

  5. Install the transmission to engine brace.
  6. Remove the support stands.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

Transmission Mount Replacement Right

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transmission to cylinderhead brace nuts.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust System Description .
  4. Remove the steering rack retaining bolts.
  5. As necessary, position the steering rack away from the mount.
  6. Support the transmission with the transmission jack.

  8. Remove the through bolt and the nut.
  9. Remove the mount-to-frame nuts and bolts.
  10. Remove the mount from the frame.
  11. Remove the mount-to-transmission bolts.
  12. Remove the mount from the transmission.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 98420  Size: SH
  1. Install the mount to the transmission.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.     Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to the transmission to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  3. Install the mount to the frame.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the mount-to-frame nuts and bolts to 73 N·m (54 lb ft).

  5. Install the mount through bolt and nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the through bolt to 102 N·m (75 lb ft).

  7. Remove the transmission jack.
  8. Install the steering rack.
  9. Install the front exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust System Description .
  10. Install the transmission to cylinderhead brace nuts.
  11. Lower the vehicle.

Transmission Mount Replacement Rear

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Install the jack stand in order to support the powertrain.
  3. Remove the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Remove the nuts attaching the mount bracket to the mount.

  5. Object Number: 98416  Size: SH
  6. Remove the bolts attaching the mount bracket to the transmission.

  7. Object Number: 98417  Size: SH
  8. Remove the bolts attaching the left-side mount to the frame. Then, remove the mount.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 98417  Size: SH
  1. Install the mount to the frame. Install the bolts.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.     Tighten
    Tighten the mount bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  3. Install the bracket and the bolts to the transmission.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket-to-transmission bolts to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).

  5. Install the nuts that secure the bracket to the mount.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket-to-mount nuts to 40 N·m (29 lb ft).

  7. Install the left tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Remove the jack stand.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
