Parking Brake Cable Replacement Front Cable
Removal Procedure
- Pull the edge of the drivers
side carpet back enough in order to access the grommet.
- Remove the grommet from the floor pan.
- Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Disconnect the front cable
housing (2) from the intermediate cable (1) at the cable clip.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in
General Information.
- Disconnect the cable from the lever assembly.
- Remove the parking brake front cable assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Position the front parking
brake cable assembly in the vehicle.
- Connect the cable to the lever assembly.
- Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Connect the front cable
housing (2) to the intermediate cable (1) at the cable clip.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in
General Information.
- Seat the grommet in the
floor pan.
- Install carpet into place.
- Adjust the parking brake cable. Refer to Cable Service/Adjustment
.
Parking Brake Cable Replacement Intermediate Cable
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle and
support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General
Information.
- Disconnect the intermediate parking brake cable (1) from the cable
clip (2).
- Disconnect intermediate cable housing from the cable retaining
bracket.
- Disconnect the intermediate
cable (3) from the rear equalizer (1).
- Disconnect the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable
housing retaining bracket.
- Remove the intermediate cable.
Installation Procedure
- Route and install the
intermediate parking cable into brake cable retaining brackets.
- Connect the left (2) and right (5) rear parking brake cables to
the intermediate cable (3), using equalizer (1).
- Insert the intermediate
cable (1) into the cable retaining bracket and lock the cable into place.
- Connect front of the intermediate cable (1) to the front cable
using the connecting clip.
- Adjust the parking brake cable. Refer to Cable Service/Adjustment
.
Parking Brake Cable Replacement Rear Cable
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle and
suitably support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Back off the adjuster nut in order to release cable tension.
- Disconnect the right and the left rear parking brake cables from
the rear equalizer.
- Remove the conduit fitting from the bracket by depressing the
conduit fitting retaining tangs.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove right and left
cable retainer bolts (3).
- Disconnect the right and
the left parking brake cable (1) from the parking brake levers. Refer to
Rear Brake Caliper Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the right and the left cable from the caliper support brackets
by depressing the conduit fitting retaining tangs.
- Remove the parking brake rear cables.
Installation Procedure
- Position the right and
the left rear parking brake cable to the vehicle.
- Install the conduit fitting to the bracket by snapping into place.
- Connect the cables to the equalizer.
- Install the right and
the left cable retainer bolts (3).
- Install the right and
the left cables to the caliper support brackets by snapping into place.
- Connect the parking brake cables (1) to the parking
brake levers. Refer to
Rear Brake Caliper Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Adjust parking brake cable.
