The EBCM/EBTCM contains sophisticated on-board diagnostics that are accessible with a Scan Tool. These diagnostics are designed in order to identify the source of most of the system malfunctions as specifically as possible. There are 35 diagnostic trouble codes to assist with diagnosis.
Use of the Scan Tool permits the monitoring of some inputs and outputs. This enables malfunction confirmation and repair verification.
Manual control of the components and automated functional tests are also available when using the Scan Tool.
The diagnostic trouble codes stored in the EBCM/EBTCM are not specifically designated as Current or History diagnostic trouble codes.
The amber ANTILOCK and TRACTION OFF indicators assist in differentiating between current and history diagnostic trouble codes:
• | If the amber ANTILOCK and TRACTION OFF indicators are illuminated before entering diagnostic mode, at least one diagnostic trouble code is current. |
• | If the amber ANTILOCK and TRACTION OFF indicators are not illuminated before entering diagnostic mode, no diagnostic trouble code is current. |
When more than one diagnostic trouble code is stored and the amber ANTILOCK and TRACTION OFF indicators were illuminated before entering diagnostic mode, it is impossible to determine between current and history diagnostic trouble codes.
