Control Assembly Replacement Buick

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Guages and Console.

  2. Object Number: 404276  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining screws from the HVAC control assembly.
  4. Pull the assembly out from the instrument panel.

  5. Object Number: 404278  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the HVAC control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 404278  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connector to the HVAC control assembly.

  2. Object Number: 404276  Size: SH
  3. Install the HVAC control assembly into the instrument panel.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the retaining screws to secure the HVAC control assembly.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  7. Install the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Guages and Console.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Guages and Console.

  2. Object Number: 404280  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining screws from the HVAC control assembly.
  4. Pull the assembly out from the instrument panel.

  1. Install the HVAC control assembly into the instrument panel using the guide pins.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.
