Removal Procedure
Tools Required

J 1859-A
Steering Wheel Puller

J 38720
Side Screws
Disable the SIR system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in Restraints.
Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module . Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
in Restraints.
Remove the nut (3).
Observe the mark on the steering shaft and on the steering wheel in order to ensure proper alignment during installation.
Remove the steering wheel, using the following tools:
•
The
J 1859-A
•
The
J 38720
Use the correct side screws for pulling the wheel.
Installation Procedure
Route the wiring through the steering wheel.
Align the mark on the steering wheel with the mark on the shaft.
Install the steering wheel.
Install the nut (3).
Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
in Restraints.
Enable the SIR system. Refer to
Enabling the SIR System
in Restraints.

Remove the nut (3).
Observe the mark on the steering shaft and the steering wheel in order to ensure proper alignment during installation.
Remove the steering wheel, using the following tools:
