For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Hold down the 2 outside buttons on the UGDO until the red light begins to flash rapidly.
  2. This procedure performs the following functions:

    • Initializes the memory
    • Erases any previous settings for all 3 channels
  3. Determine which of the 3 channels you want to program.
  4. Hold the end of the hand-held transmitter less than 13 mm (0.5 in) from the bottom surface of the UGDO in order to the see the red light.
  5. Press and hold the hand-held transmitter button. Hold both buttons until you see the LED on the UGDO begin to flash rapidly.
  6. This process may take up to 1 minute or more.

  7. Release the buttons.

Training UGDO for Rolling Code Receivers

  1. Program your hand-held transmitter to the UGDO transmitter using the programming procedure in this section.
  2. Remove the cover from the garage door opener receiver.
  3. The receiver is located by the garage door opener motor.

  4. Locate the training button on the garage door opener receiver.
  5. Press the training button on the garage door opener receiver for 1-2 seconds.
  6. Return to the UGDO transmitter in the vehicle. Depress the button that you want programmed for the duration of the rapid flash of the UGDO red light, which is approximately 1-2 seconds.
  7. Release the button. Re-press the button in order to verify that the UGDO transmitter has been programmed.

Erasing Channels

In order to erase all three programmed channels, perform the following procedures:

  1. Hold down the 2 outside buttons until the red light begins to flash rapidly.
  2. Release the buttons.

You may not erase individual channels. Reprogram the individual channels using the programming procedure in this section.

Note to Canadian users:

    • During programming, the customer's hand-held transmitter may automatically stop programming after 1 or 2 seconds. This may not be enough time to program the UGDO transmitter. If you are using one of these transmitters, the light on the UGDO transmitter may emit a series of double flashes. These flashes prompt you to reactivate the hand-held transmitter. After you have reactivated the transmitter, the light on the UGDO transmitter will flash rapidly, indicating that programming has been successful. If the light returns to a slow flash, reactivate the hand-held transmitter until the light flashes rapidly.
    •  Refer to Garage Door Opener Cell 136 in Electrical Diagnosis for electrical schematics under the following conditions:
       - The light does not perform as indicated.
       - The opener does not function properly.
