Rocker Panel Molding Replacement Oldsmobile
Removal Procedure
- Remove the screw (3) from the front wheelhouse
area.
- Remove the screws (2) at the lower edge of the rocker panel
molding (1).
- Pull upward on the top edge of the rocker panel molding in order
to separate the rocker panel molding from the door sill.
- Pull outward in order to release the push in retainers.
- Remove the molding from the body.
- Remove the damaged retainers from the following components:

Installation Procedure
- Install the new retainers.
- Position the molding (1) to the vehicle.
- Press the top edge of the molding onto the door sill.
- Press the molding in order to engage the retainers.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws (2)
along the lower edge of the molding (1).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.7 N·m (15 lb in).
- Install the screw (3) to the front wheelhouse
area.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

Removal Procedure
- Remove the screw (6) from the front wheelhouse
area.
- Remove the screws (3) at the lower edge of the rocker panel
molding (2).
- Pull upward on the top edge of the rocker panel molding in order
to separate the rocker panel molding (2) from the door sill.
- Pull outward in order to release the push in retainers.
- Remove the molding (2) from the body.
- Remove the damaged retainers from the following components:

- Install the new retainers.
- Position the molding (2) to the vehicle.
- Press the top edge of the molding onto the door sill.
- Press the molding (2) in order to engage the retainers.

Tighten the screws to 1.7 N·m (15 lb in).
- Install the screw (6) to the front wheelhouse area.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).
