|
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Connect a fused jumper from the memory seat/mirror diagnostic
connector to ground (connector may be taped up into the body harness).
- Listen for a chime that acknowledges entrance into mode 1
diagnostics.
Does the memory seat/mirror module chime once and enter diagnostic mode?

3
| Inspect CKT 571
(YEL/BLK) for an open. Refer to
Testing for Continuity
in Wiring Systems.

|
- Refer to
Memory Seats System Check
for a detailed explanation of the memory seat/mirror diagnostic
modes.
- Operate the LH seat switch in all directions.
The module will chime once for each switch input that the module receives.
- Any time a switch is operated and the module does not chime, the
module did not receive an input from that switch.
Were there any switch operations where the memory seat/mirror module
did not sound a chime?

|
- Disconnect the ground from the memory seat/mirror diagnostic connector.
After 5 seconds, the module will sound 3 chimes in order
to indicate that the module has left the diagnostic mode.
- Disconnect the LH seat switch.
- With the appropriate switch pressed, connect a DMM from the suspect
connector cavity in the list below to cavity B (Oldsmobile) or cavity A (Buick)
of the LH seat switch:
• | Entire Seat Forward: L (Oldsmobile) or G (Buick)
(TAN) |
• | Entire Seat Back: M (Oldsmobile) or H (Buick) (LT GRN) |
• | Rear Vertical Up: N (Oldsmobile) or C (Buick) (YEL) |
• | Rear Vertical Down: P (Oldsmobile) or F (Buick)
(LT BLU) |
• | Front Vertical Down: R (Oldsmobile) or B (Buick)
(DK GRN) |
• | Front Vertical Down: S (Oldsmobile) or D (Buick)
(DK BLU) |
• | Recline Forward: F (Oldsmobile) or K (Buick) (LT GRN) |
• | Recline Back: E (Oldsmobile) or L (Buick) (LT BLU) |
Is the resistance less than the specified range?
| 5ohms

| Inspect the following circuits for an open between the
LH seat switch and the memory seat/mirror module:
• | Entire Seat Forward: CKT 1522 (TAN) |
• | Entire Seat Back: CKT 1532 (LT GRN) |
• | Rear Vertical Up: CKT 1519 (YEL) |
• | Rear Vertical Down: CKT 1521 (LT BLU) |
• | Front Vertical Up: CKT 1518 (DK GRN) |
• | Front Vertical Down: CKT 1520 (DK BLU) |
• | Recline Forward: CKT 276 (LT GRN) |
• | Recline Back: CKT 277 (LT BLU) |
