Cleaning Procedure
- Clean all the following components with solvent:
• | Secondary timing chains |
• | Primary timing chain shoe |
• | Primary timing chain guides |
• | Primary timing chain tensioner |
• | Secondary timing chain tensioners |
• | Timing component fastening bolts |
Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.
- Dry the timing components with compressed air.
Visual Inspection
- Inspect the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets for damage. The
camshaft and crankshaft sprockets are not repairable. If a camshaft and/or
crankshaft sprocket is damaged, the camshaft and/or crankshaft sprocket must
be replaced.
- Inspect the timing guides and shoe for wear, cracks or damage.
The timing guides and shoe are not repairable. If a timing guide or shoe is
worn cracked or damaged, the timing guide or shoe must be replaced.
- Inspect the timing chain tensioners for damage. The timing chain
tensioners are not repairable. If a timing chain tensioner is damaged, the
timing chain tensioner must be replaced.
- Inspect all bolts for damage. If a bolt is damaged, the bolt must
be replaced.
- Inspect the timing chains for damage. The timing chains are not
repairable. If a timing chain is damaged, the timing chain must be replaced.
