Engine Oil Level Sensor Replacement w/3.5L
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer
to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in
General Information.
- Drain the engine oil. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from engine oil level sensor.
- Remove the engine oil level sensor from the oil pan.
Installation Procedure
- Install the engine oil
level sensor into the oil pan.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the engine
oil level sensor bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil level sensor bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector to the engine oil level sensor.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the engine oil. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
.
- Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
Engine Oil Level Sensor Replacement w/4.0L
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer
to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in
General Information.
- Drain the engine oil. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from engine oil level sensor.
- Remove the engine oil level sensor (1) from the oil pan.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the engine oil level sensor (1).
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil level sensor to 34 N·m (25 lb
ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the engine oil level sensor.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the engine oil to the full mark. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
.
- Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
