The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some 2001 Oldsmobile Auroras will not connect to OnStar® with either the OnStar® or Emergency buttons. The OnStar® status LED may not be illuminated. There will be no response from pressing either of the OnStar® buttons. Rear window defogger may also be inoperative.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Ground G310 may be disconnected or corroded at Left 'C' pillar causing the rear window defogger to ground through the OnStar® cellular coax cable.
Clean and reconnect G310 to body at left 'C' pillar. This is the ground location for both the rear window defogger and the OnStar® cellular antenna cable.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
