Removal Procedure

Important: Sectioning procedures are used to repair the rear floor. The rear floor service part comes pre-cut to the appropriate size for sectioning. It does not need to be modified.

  1. Visually inspect and restore as much of the damage as possible to factory specifications.
  2. Remove all related panels and components.
  3. Cut the rear floor along the rearward edge of the crossbar. Be careful not to cut the crossbar or rear rails.
  4. Remove the damaged section of the rear floor.
  5. Locate, mark and drill out all factory welds rearward of the crossbar connecting the rear rails.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the new floor section on top of the original floor.
  2. Check the fit according to body specifications and plug weld accordingly.
  3. Clean and prepare welded surfaces.
  4. Important: Prior to refinishing, refer to publication GM 4901M-D-2000 GM Approved Refinish Materials for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to paint manufacturer's recommendations.

  5. Apply sealers and corrosion protection materials, as necessary.
  6. Prime with 2-part catalyzed primer. Do not combine paints systems. Refer to paint manufacturer's recommendations.
  7. Install all related components.
