GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

The fuel door release system contains the following components:

â€¢ The fuel door/trunk release switch
    â€¢ The driver's door switch
â€¢ The driver's door module (DDM)
â€¢ The rear integration module (RIM)
    â€¢ The rear fuse block
â€¢ The fuel door release relay
â€¢ The fuel door release solenoid
    â€¢ The valet switch

The RIM operates the relays when it receives a class 2 message from the DDM. The RIM will then verify that the vehicle is in park before releasing the fuel door.

The valet switch is used as a manual override for the system and must be closed in order for the release systems to work properly.
