ENG. SHUDDER DURING DRIVE AWAY INSPECT RIGHT REAR ENG. MOUNT

SUBJECT: ENGINE SHUDDER DURING DRIVE AWAY AND/OR HARSHNESS DURING IDLE (REPLACE RIGHT REAR ENGINE MOUNT)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991 N-CAR W/3.3L

Condition:

------------- Some 1991 N cars equipped with 3300 engine (VIN N) may exhibit engine shudder during drive away and/or harshness during idle.

Cause:

------- Collapsed right rear engine mount.

Correction:

------------ Inspect the gap in the mount as shown in Figures 1 and 2 with the engine off and normal engine weight on the mount. If the gap is less than 6.5 mm (1/4 inch), the mount is collapsed and should be replaced, as shown in Figure 1. If the gap is greater than 6.5 mm (1/4 inch), the mount is not collapsed and other causes of the shudder or harshness should be investigated.
