INSTEAD, THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY HAS APPROVED A CERTAIN ADJUSTMENT ON 1982 PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 4.3L V-8 FEDERAL GAS ENGINE BUILT AND CERTIFIED FOR OPERATION AT LOW ALTITUDES BUT DELIVERED BY DEALERS FOR PRINCIPAL USE IN HIGH ALTITUDE AREAS. VEHICLE INSPECTION 1982 4.3 LITER V-8 GAS ENGINE EQUIPPED VEHICLES IDENTIFIED ON THE UNDERHOOD EMISSION CONTROL LABEL AS CERTIFIED FOR USE IN CALIFORNIA ARE EXCLUDED FROM THIS PROGRAM AND ARE NOT TO BE ADJUSTED. THE ADJUSTMENT LISTED IN THIS BULLETIN WHEN PERFORMED AT HIGH ALTITUDES WILL REDUCE HYDROCARBON AND CARBON MONOXIDE EMISSIONS AND IMPROVE ENGINE PERFORMANCE ON MODELS OPERATED AT HIGH ALTITUDES. DEALER INFORMATION OLDSMOBILE REQUIRES DEALERS TO PERFORM THIS ADJUSTMENT PRIOR TO DELIVERY OF A 1982 VEHICLE TO THE CUSTOMER WHOSE PRIMARY USE OF THE VEHICLE WILL BE AT HIGH ALTITUDE.
