SUBJECT: SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE REVISED SPECIAL TOOLS POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY

MODELS/YEARS: 1991 CUTLASS SUPREME, 1990-91 SILHOUETTE W/3.1 L OR 3.4L (VIN T, D, X) ENGINES

At start of 1990 Silhouette production the power steering pump pulley changed on the 3.1 L (LG6) engine. There was also a model year running change made to the power steering pump pulley on the 3.1 L (LH0) and 3.4L (L01) engines used in the 1991 Cutlass Supreme. The power steering pump pulley is now made of a composite material. This new pulley has a flange which decreases the diameter of the access hole which previous "J" and "BT" tools used. Those Special tools will not work. Refer to the illustration below for correct Special tool applications.

For removal of the steering pump pulley, use a J 25034-B (base) with a J 37609 (screw) or use a J 37609-A which is a complete (base and screw) power steering pump pulley removal tool. To install the pulley use a J 36015 power steering pump pulley installer.
