Generator Rear Brace Replacement 3100 Engine L82

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 45671  Size: SH
  1. Remove the stud from the generator.
  2. Remove the nut from the engine stud.
  3. Remove the brace.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 45671  Size: SH
  1. Install the brace to the generator and to the engine stud.
  2. Hand tighten the nut and the stud.
  3. Install the nut to the engine stud.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Make sure that tightening the nut does NOT bind the generator.
  6. Install the stud on the generator.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Make sure that tightening the stud does NOT bind the generator.

Generator Rear Brace Replacement 3.4L Engine LQ1

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to SECTION 0A.
  2. Remove the three-way catalytic converter. Refer to Section 6F.
  3. Remove the generator cooling duct and reposition. Refer to Generator Cooling Duct.

  5. Remove the generator rear brace retaining bolt and the nut.
  6. Remove the generator rear brace.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 45674  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator rear brace.
  2. Install the generator rear brace retaining bolt and the nut. The parts should fit easily. Tightening bolts and nuts must NOT put the generator in a bind.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the generator rear brace bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Tighten
    Tighten the generator rear brace nut to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  4. Install the generator cooling duct. Refer to Generator Cooling Duct.
  5. Install the three-way catalytic converter. Refer to SECTION 6F.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the canister purge vacuum switch from the brace.
  2. Remove the bolts from the engine.
  3. Remove the bolt from the rear of the generator.
  4. Remove rear brace.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 45675  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear brace.
  2. Install the bolt to the rear of the generator.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
