Generator Splash Shield Replacement 3400 Engine LQ1

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitable support the vehicle. Refer to SECTION 0A.
  2. Remove the right tire and the right wheel. Refer to SECTION 3E.
  3. Remove the right engine splash shield upper retaining clips and pull down the shield. Refer to SECTION 4D.
  4. Remove the right ball joint nut and separate the control arm. Refer to Section 3C.
  5. Remove the right outer tie rod. Refer to SECTION 3B1A.
  6. Remove the right side drive axle from the transaxle.

  7. Object Number: 45672  Size: SH
  8. Remove the bolts.
  9. Remove the splash shield.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 45672  Size: SH
  1. Install the splash shield.
  2. Install the bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Connect the right side drive axle to the transaxle. Refer to SECTION 4D.
  5. Install the right outer tie rod. Refer to SECTION 3B1A.
  6. Install the right control arm and the ball joint. Refer to SECTION 3C.
  7. Install the right engine splash shield using the upper retaining clips. Refer to SECTION 4D.
  8. Install the right wheel. Refer to SECTION 3E.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
