J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

1. Remove the left valve rocker arm covers. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
2. Remove the right valve rocker arm covers. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .



3. Remove the rocker arm pedestal retaining bolts.

Important: Place the parts on a clean surface. Store the components in order so they can be reassembled in the same location and with the same mating surfaces as when removed.

4. Remove the rocker arm bearing and the rocker arm.
5. Clean the rocker arms and the bolts in a suitable solution.
6. Clean the rocker arm bolts of all thread adhesive.

1. Use compressed air in order to blow oil out of the tapped holes in the cylinder head.
2. Install the retainer. Ensure that the arrows on the retainers point to the center of the engine.
3. Install the rocker arm.
4. Install the bearing.

Important: Tighten the outboard locations first.

5. Install the rocker arm pedestal retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 15 N·m (18 lb ft). Use the J 36660-A in order to rotate the bolts an additional 90°.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

6. Install the valve rocker arm covers. Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement and Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
7. Inspect the valve train for noise.
