Camshaft Carrier Cover Replacement Left Side
Removal Procedure
- Remove the oil/air breather hose from the cover.
- Remove the spark plug wires from the plugs. Refer to Engine Electrical.
- Remove the rear spark plug wires from the cover. Refer to Engine
Electrical.
- Remove the camshaft carrier cover bolts.
- Remove the camshaft carrier cover.
- Remove the gasket from the cover.
- Remove the O-rings from the cover.
Installation Procedure
- Install the O-rings to the camshaft carrier cover.
- Install the gasket to the camshaft carrier cover.
- Install the camshaft carrier cover.
- Install the retaining bolts. Fully seat the bolt isolators into
the cover.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the rear spark plug wires to the cover. Refer to Engine
Electrical.
- Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Refer to Engine
Electrical.
- Connect the oil/air breather hose to the camshaft carrier cover.
Camshaft Carrier Cover Replacement Right Side
Removal Procedure
- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to
Upper Intake Manifold Replacement
.
- Remove the right upper timing belt cover. Refer to
Timing Belt Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the right spark plug wires. Refer to Engine Electrical.
- Disconnect the oil/air separator hose at the camshaft carrier
cover.
- Remove the camshaft carrier cover retaining bolts.
- Remove the camshaft carrier cover and gasket.
- Remove the gasket from the cover.
- Remove the O-rings from the cover.
Installation Procedure
- Install the O-rings to the cover.
- Install the gasket to the cover.
- Install the camshaft carrier cover.
- Install the retaining bolts. Fully seat the bolt isolators into
the cover before tightening.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
