CAUSE:

THE RANGE OF OPERATION OF THE RKE SYSTEM CAN BE AFFECTED BY SEVERAL FACTORS, INCLUDING THE POSITION FROM WHICH IT IS USED. TYPICALLY, THE RANGE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN FROM THE SIDES. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE A LESS THAN EXPECTED OPERATION FROM CERTAIN DIRECTIONS. ALSO, SOME VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE HIGH AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAUSING AN INTERMITTENT/ INOPERATIVE INTERNAL BREAKDOWN OF THE RECEIVER.

REPLACE THE RKE RECEIVER FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE IN SECTION 9K OF THE SERVICE MANUAL. WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW RECEIVER, REMOVE THE RELEASE TAPE FROM THE FOIL ANTENNA, EXTEND TOWARD DRIVER'S SIDE AND ATTACH TO UNDERSIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OR CARRIER. DO NOT TWIST OR ATTACH TO ANY METAL OBJECTS.

U VAN:

REPLACE THE RKE RECEIVER FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE IN SECTION 9K OF THE SERVICE MANUAL. WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW RECEIVER, PLACE THE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL UPSIDE DOWN ON A PROTECTED SURFACE.
