1985-88 DELTA 88 AND NINETY-EIGHT MODELS WITH ASTRO ROOF OPTION
If a comment is received regarding air noise (buffeting) with the Astro Roof glass fully open at 35-55 mph, a new air deflector, part number 16605193 with three slots (see Figure 1) may be installed to minimize air noise.
The new deflector is currently being installed in production and will fit 1985 through 1988 production.
Installation of the deflector requires the removal of the sunroof housing, per the 1988 Body Service Manual, Section 8C-54 Roof "Delta 88, Ninety-Eight" styles.
The new deflector has an actuator arm with an offset leg (see Figure 2). This deflector can be used without any change on 1985 into early 1988 production; these use the offset leg. Later 1988 production does not use an offset leg, and requires cuffing off offset (see Figure 2, dotted line).
Labor Operation Number: B2230 Labor Time: Use applicable time from Labor Time Guide
If necessary to remove offset leg, list .3 hours in "Other Labor Hours" column.
Trouble Code: 92
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
