POWER DOOR WINDOW TAPE DRIVE DISENGAGES

MODELS/YEARS: 1986 DELTA 88 AND NINETY-EIGHT 2-DOOR WITH POWER WINDOW, 1987 DELTA 88 AND NINETY-EIGHT WITH POWER WINDOWS

This bulletin supplements Dealer Technical Bulletin 86-T-9A dated October 15, 1986.

Late production 1986 door glass regulator assembly on two-door models with power windows included an up stop. This expanded to all power front door glass regulators after October 1, 1986, on the 1987 Delta 88 and Ninety-Eight models.

The added up stop prevents tape drive over-travel and disengagement of the tape drive from the door glass if a car has this condition and does not have an up stop replace it with the later design. Part numbers and usage are indicated in the following chart:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
