Coolant Level Module Replacement 3.5L V6 LX5

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

  2. Object Number: 289172  Size: SH
  3. Partially drain the engine coolant . Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  4. Remove the surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the coolant level switch.
  6. Remove the coolant level switch.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 289172  Size: SH
  1. Install the coolant level switch.
  2. Connect the wiring harness connector to the coolant level switch.
  3. Install the surge tank.
  4. Fill the surge tank with engine coolant.
  5. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  6. Inspect the system for leaks.

Coolant Level Module Replacement 3800 V6 L36

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Partially drain the engine coolant from the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  3. Object Number: 305329  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the coolant level module (1).

  5. Object Number: 163296  Size: SH

    Important: To unlock the coolant level module, lift one leg of the snap clip from its locked position and pull outward with a slight twisting motion.

  6. Remove the coolant level module.
  7. Inspect the O-ring seal on the coolant level module.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 163296  Size: SH
  1. Install the O-ring. Lubricate the O-ring seal with engine coolant.
  2. Place the snap clip leg in place.
  3. Install the coolant level module.

  4. Object Number: 305329  Size: SH
  5. Connect the wiring harness connector to the coolant level module (1).
  6. Important: To properly fill the system requires the use the air bleed vents.

  7. Fill the cooling system with engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  8. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  9. Inspect for leaks.
